Meet the Cook Brown Building Control Awards judging panel
Our Cook Brown Awards are back in full swing! With the cut off time to make nominations for our Design Excellence Award coming up at the end of August, we thought it would be a great time to introduce you to the awards judging panel.
Dave Allen, C.Build E MCABE – Director of Specialist Projects and Consultancy Services
Dave has worked in the private and public Building Control sectors for nearly 40 years and specialises in working on complex projects including government, historic and mixed uses.
Dave is highly respected in the industry and supports the industry strategically in auditing Approved Inspectors and acting as an expert witness.

Simon has extensive experience of Building Control working within both Local Authority and Approved Inspectors for over 25 years. He has developed and gained considerable experience with Building Regulations and fire safety engineering on a wide variety of projects.
Simon has previously had the privilege to be elected as both the President of the Association of Building Engineers (ABE) 2010 to 2011 and the London District Surveyors Association (LDSA) 2014 and therefore has worked at the highest levels of the construction industry.

Jayne Hall, Bsc(Hons), PPCABE, C.BuildE, FCABE – Principal Building Control Surveyor
Jayne is a Chartered Building Engineer and Built Environment Enforcement Manager with extensive experience in Local Authority Building Control and associated regulatory services.
Over the years Jayne has developed and delivered an introductory training programme for elected members and town and parish councillors and as part of her role as CABE president. She has delivered presentations to technical training events and conferences in England and Ireland on the subjects of Effective Enforcement, Planning Enforcement, Mental Health and Well-being in Construction and Diversity and Inclusivity in Construction.

Dave, Simon and Jayne’s combined experience of complex projects, industry awards and years specialising in analysing the design and build of projects, makes these three ideal judges for our excellence awards.
