The Great Tythe Barn, Tetbury

Client: The Great Tythe Barn Ltd

Cook Brown Building Control provided independent Building Control services for the major refurbishment of The Great Tythe Barn in Long Newnton, Tetbury — a four-hundred-year-old stone barn and renowned wedding and events venue operating since 1995. This 16th-century site demanded meticulous attention and oversight to preserve its historic fabric and infrastructure. Refurbishments included installing air source heat pumps, new toilet and washroom facilities, and a full bar extension carefully integrated with the existing structure. Extensive woodwork and re-roofing were also completed.

The Wave, Bristol

The Wave is an artificial inland Wave Pool in Bristol providing safe waves all year round. We were delighted to be involved in this project to provide Building Control services for the erection of a clubhouse and ancillary buildings.

Project Description:

LUXE Fitness appointed us to provide Building Regulation services for refurbishment of the 1914 Grade II listed building. The client specified that they wanted to protect and preserve the outer buildings heritage, meaning that all works had to be confined within the existing building.

Swindon Town Football Club

Client: gcp Chartered Architects

We were approached by GCP Chartered Architects to provide the Registered Building Control Approver Services on the construction of a new hub building on behalf of Swindon Town FC Football in the Community Trust.

Falkland Cricket Club, Newbury

Client: CGS Construction Consultants

We were appointed by CGS Construction Consultants for the creation of a new Cricket Pavilion and changing rooms fit out works at Falkland Cricket Club. The project was a traditional build with masonry walls, concrete plank floors and timber roof. The means of escape was interesting, as there were several uses for the building, close liaison with the fire authority ensured a compliant approach at an early stage. The building was extremely energy efficient with PV on the roof and air source heat pumps being installed, ensuring the BRUKL report complied with the target CO2 emission rate.

dBs Music, Bristol

Client: dBs Music

Based in Central Bristol, this project involved internal alterations and fit-out works of an existing building to form a Music Production Centre for our client dBs Music. The space now provides teaching rooms, practice rooms and studios. We have continued to work with dBs on various similar projects around the country. Our sister company Cook Brown Energy were also appointed to provide Energy Consultancy services on this project.
