We were approached by GCP Chartered Architects to provide Approved Inspector Services on the construction of a new hub building on behalf of Swindon Town FC Community Foundation.

We provided early design stage advice, a plans assessment tracker was prepared and updated continuously throughout the project and, working alongside appointed contractors, Beard Construction, we delivered site inspections at all necessary stages.

The concept and planning for this new hub has spanned the last 30 years, but was eventually made possible thanks to investment from the Premier League and the Football Foundation, as well as grants from The Nigel Eady Trust, Sport England, Swindon Borough Council S106 and a significant contribution from STFC Community Foundation. Work finally went ahead in February 2019 and was successfully completed early 2020. For the special and long-awaited occasion, the community welcomed Swindon Town legend, John Trollope, and the High Sheriff of Wiltshire, Nicky Alberry, to cut the ribbon and officially open the sporting hub.

The two-storey pavilion, now named Foundation Park, comprises new offices of the Foundation, meeting rooms, a multi-use activity room, a café, four team changing rooms, two officials changing rooms, two viewing balconies, all of which are completely accessible. The wider facilities also include a full-size floodlit third generation (3G) artificial grass pitch.

Foundation Park will not only benefit Swindon Town FC Community Foundation but will also provide high quality facilities to several partner clubs and schools, creating opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds.

‘This was truly an enjoyable project to work on, it was clear how much thought had gone into these facilities and it is great to see they have a wider use for the community as well.’
