The Regent is a well-known landmark in Clevedon, which had remained vacant for more than a decade prior to redevelopment. On behalf of Freemantle Developments, O’Leary Goss Architects prepared proposals to bring the building back into active use through a carefully considered mixed residential and retail scheme. The design focused on restoring and retaining the character of the original Victorian Regent building, while introducing new build wings to either side to sensitively increase capacity.

The completed development provides 20 apartments within the new wings, complementing the restored historic structure at the centre of the site. At street level, a large retail unit helps reinstate an active frontage, alongside a smaller shop located behind the refurbished shopfront of the Regent building itself. Cook Brown Building Control provided building control services throughout the project, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and supporting the successful delivery of the scheme.
