Project: Gloucester Road, Bath

Client: Alexander James Cox Ltd

This project possibly offers one of the best views across the Severn estuary, over to Wales. Panorama Place is an exclusive development by Alexander James Cox Ltd of three, four-bedroom, high spec homes, cut into a steep slope, with integral garages, and balconies on two levels. We provided Building Control services throughout the project.


Project: Beckford Gate, Bath

Client: MEO Projects

This project delivered 4 luxury apartments on the iconic approach to Bath city, adjacent to the historic Beckford monument. The building has been constructed in Bath Stone with an SFS frame. The creative design of the open plan living meant the use of a water mist system as a compensatory feature.


Project: Evania Barn, Cheltenham

Client: Smith Building Company

We worked, with Smith Building Company, as the Approved Inspector on this Mediterranean inspired luxury holiday home in the heart of the Cotswolds. This five-bedroom barn extension is complete with cascading waterfalls into an outdoor heated swimming pool and a standalone bathtub.

The new extension has been designed to the highest quality standard to present an expansive space for guests of the barn, with the option to further expand beyond the vast sliding doors to a patio dining area.


Project: Former Empire Sports Club, Bristol

Client: The PG Group

The former Empire Sports Club in Bristol was converted into a housing development comprising three detached houses and nineteen flats. We provided Building Control services throughout the duration of the project and Cook Brown Energy provided Energy Consultancy services.


Project: Cask Store, Finzels Reach, Bristol

Client: Cubex Land

We provided a full range of Building Control services to this complex construction project. It involved the restoration of a historic stone and brick brewery building and the creation of a new building behind the original, to create thirty-eight luxury apartments in Bristol’s City Centre.

The apartments are set in a fantastic part of Bristol City Centre with views of Castle Park one side, and a beautifully landscaped courtyard on the other.


Project: Phase 2, Ensleigh, Lansdown, Bath

Client: Halsall Construction

We were appointed by Halsall Construction on a phased construction scheme at a former MoD site in Lansdown, Bath. Works included the construction of thirteen residential houses and a block of nine residential apartments. The properties are finished to a very high specification including a Bath Stone render and timber cladding to fit into the landscape.


Project: Hawkins Lane and Georges Wharf, Finzels Reach, Bristol

Client: Cubex Land

As part of the Finzels Reach regeneration project in Bristol City Centre, we worked on the construction of two apartment blocks providing 194 new apartments. These modern waterside apartment blocks of eleven storeys and nine storeys include a roof terrace with amazing views over the city. The ground floor of Hawkins Lane also features three commercial units.


Project: The Boot Factory, Bristol

Client: Christian Grant Property

We were appointed to provide Plan Assessment and Site Inspection services on the restoration and conversion of the Victorian Olympia House to form twenty-six residential units comprising of one, two- and three-bedroom apartments. The scheme also included the creation of a generous courtyard with landscaping and parking.

In December 2019, this project impressed our in-house judges and won our Design Excellence Award. We presented the award on the launch of the apartments.


Project: Cleeve House, North Somerset

Client: Wotton Donoghue Architects

We were appointed by Wotton Donoghue Architects to provide full Approved Inspector Services for a single storey, Dining, Kitchen, and Utility extension onto an already impressive family home, formerly a Coaching House, in North Somerset. The extension includes a fully glazed cantilevered corner complete with 3.5m high pocket sliding doors and automated slot roof lights to provide an indoor/outdoor living space. The 40 sqm space extends the kitchen/dining area into a beautiful light and large area with impressive views out to the Somerset countryside.

Due to the large amount of glazing in the extension, Cook Brown Energy were also appointed to provide an Area Weighted U-Value Calculation.


Project: Grasdene Road, London

Client: Resi Design

We were provided the opportunity to quote on this project from Resi Design, who of which we have a great working partnership with. Following a successful quotation, we were appointed by the homeowner to provide Plans Assessment and Site Inspection services on this residential project in South East London.

The works included a ground floor rear extension, loft conversion, bathroom refurbishment and all associated works. The new extension creates a fabulous open plan kitchen, dining and living space that is flooded with natural light from the bi-fold doors across the back of the room. Within the loft conversion a new bedroom and shower room were created, complete with a juliette balcony and roof light.
