Principal Building Control Surveyor, BA(Hons) HNC C.Build E MCABE
My work background:
I have several years’ experience of Building Control having worked for both Local Authority and Approved Inspectors during my career which commended in 2004. I have been fortunate to develop and gain considerable experience with Building Regulations and further legislation from a wide variety of projects in both the public and private sectors.
My skills to date include offering proactive, practical, engineered solutions, cost saving advice and guidance to achieve compliance with the Building Regulations. My greatest strengths are my client focused service, especially on High-End Residential, Commercial, New Build, Extensions and Renovations.
About my role:
Initially I joined Cook Brown Building Control in August 2018 as a Senior Building Control Surveyor to allow a little more flexibility rather than my previous daily commute in and out of central London. This has benefited me personally as the role has given me a valuable work-life balance – being able to do the school runs in the morning and being closer to home rather than being in the city daily, is something which my children have benefitted from too.
I was promoted in January 2020 as a Principal Building Control Surveyor which has enabled me to develop my career as well as continuing with my daily duties as a surveyor. I am assisting the Technical Director to manage a team and to be more active in the day to day management of the London office.
I am fortunate to be able to maintain my career as a Surveyor and have two daughters, a husband and dog. I try and enjoy my life to the best that I can and although being a mother I love my job, being out with friends, gardening, walks, family day outs and our family holidays.
I love driving my car with the music playing and singing along as well as down the pub on rare nights off singing on the karaoke.
