Senior Building Control Surveyor, C.Build E MCAB
My work background:
Prior to joining Cook Brown Building Control, I spent twelve and a half years in Local Authority, having started as a trainee. I have worked across a broad spectrum of projects, including multi-million-pound commercial schemes and large-scale residential regeneration. In my previous role, I took a technical lead on Parts H & L of the Building Regulations including providing training for colleagues. Due to the rural nature of my home county of Herefordshire, most of my client base was in the domestic sector and I most enjoy working on challenging projects, particularly those involving historic buildings and changes of use.
Before Building Control, I worked briefly in the timber frame industry, and grew up on construction sites as building was the family business.
I have a HND in Construction and am a Chartered Member of The Chartered Association of Building Engineers.
About my role:
My day-to-day role primarily consists of undertaking fee quotations, plan checks, site inspections and general liaison with clients. My focus is on building relationships with clients to achieve mutual understanding and add value to projects through sharing my knowledge and experience, with the aim of achieving compliance through collaboration.
I work with the team in Tewkesbury but will predominantly be providing Building Control services in Herefordshire, with some work in Powys and Shropshire.
Outside of work I spend as much time as possible outdoors, often on my mountain bike. My first passion is motorsport and most things mechanical – I sit on the committee of my motor club, compete as a co-driver on stage rallies, and drive on auto tests.
