Principal Building Control Surveyor
My work background:
My BSc (Hons) Building Surveying Degree was achieved at the University of West of England and I am a chartered member of the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE). I have worked within the construction industry for twenty-one years; fifteen years of these within the Corporate Approved Inspector environment.
As an Approved Inspector, I have a wide range of experience in the majority of sectors including residential, workplace, retail, police and custodial, MoD and Crown and education/further education. I have been fortunate to work on many of the landmark projects within Bristol and the South West over the last decade. In recent years, I have been responsible for managing a portfolio of major residential and mixed-use developments in London for the UK’s largest Building Control and Warranty provider; this included a year living in the capital on a five-day basis as part of the role.
About my role:
My Principal Surveyors role at Cook Brown Building Control uses my experience to assist our clients in minimising risks associated with scheme statutory approval in an ever changing regulatory landscape. This includes the full scope of the Approved Inspector service from concept design through to handover stages.
I am a dedicated family man with two teenaged children which certainly keeps me busy! I am known for being a piston head with a love of getting my hands oily with anything mechanical including the restoration of motorbikes.
Me and my group of friends are avid fans of Devon formed progressive rock band, Muse and have seen them live in UK arena and stadium venues no less than 6 times over the past 12 years.
