When the country was propelled into its first lockdown due to the global pandemic COVID-19, Narberth Rugby Football Club saw this as an opportunity to make well needed improvements to their club whilst the playing season was put on hold.

The project, located in Pembrokeshire, Wales, has been designed and organised by the club’s Vice President, local architect and one of our long-standing clients, Ken Morgan. He identified that the club’s existing catering cabin was too cramped in the kitchen, not well ventilated and had no seating for customers. This initiated the idea to create a new purpose-built building with a spacious fully ventilated kitchen designed to full environmental catering standards and seating for over twenty people. This will give the club a beneficial facility that can be enjoyed by all age groups, whether they are the volunteers, players, or supporters.

To ensure this community business can stay afloat during this current tough economic climate, there has been material, labour and financial sponsorship from friends, local businesses, and employees at Ken Morgan’s office. We were approached by Ken Morgan with details of this community project, and of course we were pleased to contribute full Building Control Services without remuneration.

‘We have been working with Ken Morgan Architects for a number of years now and it is fantastic to be involved in a project that will benefit their local Rugby Club. We actively provide pro-bono technical advice on projects wherever possible, to support the local community as part of our corporate social responsibility endeavours. It is great to see the Narberth community come together and to share their skills to build something that will benefit so many people. Works are progressing on site nicely and we are looking forward to seeing the finished building in action.’
