We are pleased to announce that luxury fitness gym LUXE Fitness is a finalist in the RICS Social Impact Awards, since its magnificent transformation of the former Bedminster Library.

The building has undergone major refurbishments to the interior, transforming it from an outdated library into a luxurious gym. Design Storey created an edgy and contemporary look, with the installation of distinctive mezzanine floors and vibrant street frontage. The second storey mezzanine floor of the gym was designed specifically to house a versatile and airy functional training zone beneath it, encompassing a custom-built rig.

LUXE Fitness appointed us to provide Building Regulation advice for refurbishment of the 1914 Grade II listed building. The client specified that they wanted to protect and preserve the outer buildings heritage, meaning that all works had to be confined within the existing building.

There were some challenging construction issues to address throughout the project, which through collaborative working with the client and Oxford Architects ensured the project was delivered within a tight timescale.

“This is an amazing achievement for LUXE Fitness. Congratulations from all at Cook Brown; we are proud to have been part of this project and are in awe of the finished transformation.”
