The Architecture Centre is a Bristol based charity that are due to celebrate their 25th anniversary this year. They are based at an idyllic waterfront location overlooking Bristol City Centre’s harbourside, in an 18th century former warehouse. The charity has worked hard to raise funds to bring to life their aspirations of transforming the building into a new vibrant home for design and an exciting venue space.
In an effort to breathe a new lease of life into the building, works included restoring the building’s heritage and maritime character by exposing some of the old stone walls and wooden beams, as well as a new layout transformation. The ground floor of the building now incorporates a new bar and cafe area named ‘The Architect’, complete with an outdoor platform at the front of the building overlooking the waterfront. The first floor has become an area for educational purposes, promoting teaching and learning on ‘Our Built Environment’, whilst the second and third floors are offices for collaboration and academic research. The aim for this space is to become a hub for Creatives and Built Environment professionals.
We were appointed by the project’s architect, Nudge Group, who specialise in versatile design within the culture and arts sector, to provide Building Control Services for the ground floor café and bar fit out. We are proud to be offering our services at a highly reduced fee to show our support to this fantastic community building that will bring a world class venue for design to the city.
