We provided independent Building Control services for the conversion of existing shop premises into a fully licensed bar at 121 Stokes Croft.

The project involved a full strip-out of the unit and extensive refurbishment works. A key element was the removal and reinstatement of the mezzanine floor, which was raised to provide compliant headroom to the basement toilet area. Works also included insulation, plastering and soundproofing throughout, alongside a full electrical rewire and the installation of new fire and security systems.

Further upgrades comprised a new drainage and plumbing system, new windows and doors, stairways, flooring, fixtures and fittings, and full internal redecoration. The mezzanine level was secured using a wire rope system, ensuring safety while retaining an open layout.

Cook Brown worked closely with the project team to ensure full compliance with Building Regulations, supporting the successful delivery of a safe, high-quality licensed premises.
